Christen Dale, the aunt to Ethan Ali, who according to Prosecutors was fatally beaten to death with a belt after he refused to complete a spelling assignment. Dale was arraigned Friday on manslaughter and assault charges in the death of her 3-year-old nephew, according to NBC Los Angeles.
According to the report, 21-year-old Dale told the detective Ali was having troubles with completion of a spelling assignment and refused to finish an assignment for the first time Tuesday. Prosecutors said the next day Dale struck the boy repeatedly with the belt and the bruised child was found by officers at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in a Brownsville apartment.
A medical examination on the toddler’s body revealed extensive bruising on his body, back and head as well as internal bleeding from being repeatedly hit with the buckle of the belt.
