Days after last week’s deadly massacre at the Paris Offices of Charles Hebdo by the Kouachi brothers which left 12 dead, including 10 employees of the satirical magazine and 2 police officers, (click here if you missed it), the Arabian Peninsula branch of Al Qaeda have now claimed responsibility for the terror attack that shook France and the rest of the world at large.
According to CNN, the attack had been planned for years based on claims from the Al Qaeda Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) branch. In a published video, the terrorist group said U.S.-born Muslim scholar and cleric Anwar al-Awlaki masterminded the attack before his death. However, the group did not claim responsibility for Friday’s deadly siege at a kosher grocery store in Paris, where Amedy Coulibaly had reportedly held a number of hostages before killing four and turning the gun on himself, but commended the action.
CNN further reported that U.S. authorities believe “the AQAP video claiming responsibility for last week’s attack against Charlie Hebdo is authentic,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said.
