CNN reports that approximately 500 people sustained injuries after flammable powder exploded in midair at a recreational water park in Taiwan. The total number of injuries was reportedly 498, according to China’s Taipei-based Central News Agency, which cited New Taipei’s Public Health Department and as of late Sunday, no fatalities had been reported.
According to CNN, forty-three hospitals are treating casualties and 202 of the victims are in critical condition. Most of the victims, 485 of them, are Taiwanese, but 13 foreigners were also injured.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare put out a call for assistance with medical supplies and skin grafts for the hundreds injured from the explosion.
