The qualifying round of the quarter-final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last Saturday went on smoothly with the Tunisian team taking a lead over the host nation until the 93rd minute when the referee gave a time penalty stoppage. This enabled an advantaged Equatorial Guinea to continue playing the game and enable them eventually take the lead over the North African nation.
Extending the match to an extra time, Equatorial Guinea gained another goal in the 102nd minute. This infuriated the Tunisian players who attacked the referee, Rajindraparsad Seechurn from Mauritius. Security personnel had to descend on the pitch to shield the referee from the angry Tunisian players. He was escorted out of the pitch surrounded by security.
