Hollywood-based Nigerian Filmmaker, Pascal Atuma recently sat down with Emma Emerson of Golden Icons for a down-to-earth exclusive interview, during which he talked about several topics including his views and expectations of our new Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, the open letter that was sent to Richard-Mofe-Damijo (RMD), and the new trend of having our beloved entertainers/iconic figures such as Desmond Elliot, and Silverbird CEO ‘Ben Bruce’ turning to politics and having a say in the government of the country. Pascal also talked about his opinion on Nollywood Directors and Producers preying on young female who are aspiring to be star actresses in order to put them in their film productions.
Rumors have it that young girls nowadays have to sleep with Directors and Producers to land movie roles, and while chatting with Emma Emerson, he was asked why this alleged trend is so prominent in the Nollywood industry, and Atuma responded with the most truthful and best response ever, amongst others saying:
“After all if you have real good talent, God anointed, God giving talent; you don’t need to sleep with anyone to break through. The only people that will actually.. Most people that will actually do it are the ones.. With class B talent.”
He also spoke on the talents and movies being produced in Nollywood USA, and specifically in the Houston area, saying “I miss JJ Bunny in the industry”, and it was only when she was in the industry that Nollywood Houston was alive.
