We all know that women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia and their women are rarely seen in public without a male escort. A Saudi Arabia journalist, 25-year-old Loujain Al Hathloul was driving alone along the Saudi -UAE border about 2 months ago – much in defiance of the laws barring women to drive – and was swiftly detained by the men working around the border who confiscated her passport. She now faces Terrorism court, according to Time.
The men who detained the journalist gave her some food and drinks and while being detained, she started tweeting on how the men had taken care of her well being, even sharing the bottles of water given to her on social media, which was then re-tweeted by several others.

Another journalist friend of her’s, Maysan Al Amoudi, 33 who was in UAE at that time came to her aid, bringing in more supplies like toothbrush and her friend also tweet along. After Al Hathloul had stayed at her car for a full day, and Al Amoudi for a few hours, tweets from both accounts abruptly stopped.
Both women were later taken into custody and confined to prison. They are now facing subversion charges in the terrorism court.
