Taylor Swift’s official Instagram, Twitter and YouTube accounts were all hacked and remained under the hackers’ control for some time until the account hijack by the hacker was fixed. It all started on Tuesday, when the 25-year-old’s Twitter account was breached by hackers who seized the opportunity to receive their own ’15 minutes of fame’ and tweeted:
The Verge reported that these hacked tweets got deleted about 15 minutes after they were posted and that the popstar’s Instagram account was hacked as well, but only for a short while. At the same time, a Twitter user by the name @Lizzard, whose account was later suspended, threatened to release in public, nude photos of Swift. What he was asking for in exchange was payment to Bitcoin (a popular peer-to-peer online payment system). Moreover ‘@Lizzard’ claimed to be “The Leader of Lizard Squad”, a famous hacker team.
The “Shake It Off” hitmaker responded lightheartedly to the hacking via her “unhacked” Tumblr account, which she tagged “#HACKERS GONNA HACK HACK HACK HACK HACK”:
“My Twitter got hacked but don’t worry, Twitter is deleting the hacker tweets and locking my account until they can figure out how this happened and get me new passwords. Never a dull moment.”
“Now Instagram. This is going to be a long day“, she added later.
As if these were not enough, Swift’s YouTube account also appeared to have been hacked for a short while too, as a video that dubbed a Man-Cat song was uploaded to her official channel. The video has now been removed.
And later, when Swift’s Twitter account was brought back online, the singer did not seem to worry about the nude photos threats, tweeting:
PS any hackers saying they have ‘nudes’? Psssh you’d love that wouldn’t you! Have fun photoshopping cause you got NOTHING.
