The FGN Bonds Seminar took place at the Westin Galleria Hotel in Houston Texas on May 8, 2010. It was the first such event on Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Bonds, with its primary aim to appeal to Nigerians in the United States diaspora. It was a great privilege and honor to have our very own Houston based business entrepreneur/role model, Dr. Kase Lawal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CAMAC International Corporation, and Professor Adebowale Adefuye, the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States at this occasion. According to the remarks made by the Nigerian Ambassador during his speech, he was very impressed to see this event as being well organized as he witnessed.
The event featured an insightful forum presented by the Debt Management Office (DMO) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and organized locally by a group of young Nigerian professionals, with due credit to Mr Soji Daniel Williams for his hard and persistent work towards making this show a successful one. The co-hosts for the evening were Houston based Real Estate and Public Affairs professional, Laolu Davies-Yemitan, and B.E.T Comedian Michael Blackson. The event was attended by hundreds who represent a wide span of Nigerian professionals across the social, political, and economic spectrum.
The presenting host for the evening was Director General of the Federal Government of Nigeria Debt Management Office, Dr. Abraham Nwankwo. He was joined by his superb staff including the Director of Organizational Resourcing for the DMO, Mrs. A.M. Mohammed.
A host of government representatives that attended this event from the Federal Republic of Nigeria including but not limited to: Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Professor Adebowale Adefuye, Chairman of the Senante Committee on Local and Foreign Debt, Senator Ehigie Edobor Uzamere, Senator Ayodele Arise, Chairman of the House Committee on Aids, Loans, and Debt Management, Hon. Yari Abubakar AbdulAzeez, Hon. Friday Obomezele Itulah, Hon. Hussein Namadi Abdulkadir, Chairwoman House Committee on the Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewu, Special Advisor to the President on National Development, Dr. Ifediora Amobi. Other Houston based Nigerians that attended were Mr. Segun Vaughn, President of the Nigerian Foundation Houston Chapter, and Mr. Okechukwu Ofili, President of the African Professionals (AfriPro) Houston.
