The first major Award ceremony in 2015 was held in Los Angeles a few days ago! The 41st People’s Choice Awards took place at the Nokia Theater in a grand event to honor stars in films, television and music categories in which the winners are determined by the votes of the viewers. Also, Anna Faris and Allison Janney, stars of the “Mom” series were the hosts of the award show.
So now, the big question is – which artists were the highlights of the day and carted away the most music awards? Read on to find out!
The night’s big winners were undoubtedly Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Apart from their nominations in numerous categories, the duo grabbed 5 “trophies” in total, with Swift picking up 3 awards and Sheeran 2. The “Blank Space” singer received the awards for “Favorite Female Artist“, “Favorite Pop Artist” as well as “Favorite Song” for her hit song “Shake It Off“.
Ed Sheeran was victorious in the “Favorite Male Artist” and “Favorite Album” categories for his best selling “X“. The English singer and songwriter, apart from numerous awards that he has been receiving since last year, was also named as the “Most Streamed Artist in 2014 by Spotify“. In other categories, Maroon 5 picked up the “Favorite Group” award and newcomer, boy band “5 Seconds of Summer” won the “Favorite Breakout Artist” category. The people voted Hunter Hayes and Carrie Underwood as the “Favorite Male Country Artist” and “Favorite Female Country Artist” respectively, and Lady Antebellum won the “Favorite Country Group” category.
Elsewhere, Iggy Azalea, who also performed live, received the trophy for “Favorite Hip-Hop Artist” while Pharrell Williams was chosen as “Favorite RnB Artist“. For a full list of winners, check here.
