In a latest communique issued by the office of Chief of Army General Kenneth Minimah, 11 soldiers were confirmed dead and an undetermined number of others were injured. The fate of the 18 female soldiers kidnapped are still unknown and efforts are being undertaken by the army operations to locate and rescue them.
The reportedly islamist attack on last Saturday at Baga Army barrack was a shocker and almost everyone at the scene were taken by surprise. According to survivors account, they were scrambling for safety and many even trampled on dead bodies while escaping. Some hid in the bush for hours while others took shelter on treetops.
