When the kids of two scholastic and intellectual academic icons come together to become one, you cannot but observe the difference in the style and manner with which the event will be conducted. That was the case on the 31st of July, when two young and talented professionals, Olusegun Obafemi and Feyikemi Okusami were joined in holy matrimony at the Grace Evangelical Free Church, in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Story of Olusegun and Feyikemi goes back a long while in the academic, serene and peaceful environment of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Staff Quarters, where the couple grew up and bagged their undergraduate degrees. The institution itself, OAU, is often described as a giant of Africa, as it has produced world renowned professionals in almost every walk of life. OAU Campus has also been described as the most beautiful campus in Africa, and it is no surprise that the beauty of this campus was evident in the actions exhibited by this young couple, along with their friends and well wishers, who made this day a memorable and remarkable one.
Obafemi expressed his love and gratitude to his closest family members by prostrating fully in front of the audience present at the wedding. This was a simple act of humility to acknowledge and express his appreciation towards his parent for the support they have given him over the years, which has invariably made him who he is today. He also prostrated in front of his elder brother, who was present at the wedding ceremony, as a means of expressing his gratitude and appreciating the sacrifice his brother made in terms of his financial contributions towards the successful completion of his post graduate degree in the United States.
The event was definitely a joyous and cheerful one, which is typically the case when two quarters folks get married; and with the multitude of the couple’s friends that turned out to celebrate this special day with them, we cannot but simply describe this wedding as a mini OAU quarter’s reunion.
