A surveillance video from a Midtown, Manhattan jewelry store shows a man, that is wanted by the police, distracting the workers and other customers first and afterwards stealing a tray of diamond earrings. According to “Diamonds by Siag” owner Yeheskel Siag, the thief moved so quickly that the employees did not realize that the earrings were missing until much later.
In the surveillance video, the sweet talking man was seen clearly chatting with the store workers while other customers were seeking assistance from the store attendants, from this store located in Manhattan’s diamond district in New York City. He was wearing a coat, backpack and a white-brimmed hat with the word ‘fame’ emblazoned in capital letters. The thief distracted everyone in the store and managed to swipe a tray of diamond baubles, estimated at a total worth of $80,000.
Police said the man hid the tray under his jacket before walking out of the store.
