A few weeks ago, we reported the study published by The Guardian in which it was reported that Depression was more of a physical condition than a mental one. Click HERE if you missed it!
Today, we are however sharing with you one of the natural ways of overcoming depression without relying mainly on medication according to other studies. Studies have concluded that food rich in Omega 3 oil such as those derived from oily fish like wild salmon, herring and sardines are the richest natural sources while diets low in Omega 3 building blocks have been found to be linked to depression.
However, unless you eat fish three or more times weekly, you may need additional DHA and EPA supplements to reach the recommended levels. and according to one of the largest clinical study on this issue conducted to date François Lespérance and colleagues, it was further reaffirmed that Omega-3 fatty acid supplements can also be an effective treatment for major depression.
“The most powerful medical tool at your disposal is the fork,” says Mark Hyman, M.D., who blames diets with too many processed foods as a major contributor to mood problems. Hyman often prescribes a whole-foods approach, focusing on an increased intake of omega-3 fatty acids.
