GOP presidential candidate John Kasich was criticized today following his rather sexist comment about women leaving “their kitchens” to vote for him.
While he addressed the crowd in Fairfax, Virginia, the Ohio governor recalled a previous campaign for office when he said: “I didn’t have anyone for me. We just got an army of people who — and many women who left their kitchens to go out and go door-to-door to put yard signs up for me.”
Immediate backlash followed the comment asemale supporter in the crowd called Kasich on the comment.
“First off, I want to say about your comment earlier about the women came out of the kitchen to support you, I’ll come to support you, but I wont be coming out of the kitchen,” the audience member said.
Kasich finished fifth in the recent South Carolina primary with 7.6 percent of the vote. He also finished second in New Hampshire. Donald Trump won both of those elections, but finished second in Iowa behind Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
