Taylor Swift made a pledge last year saying if her song ‘ Welcome to New York ‘ sells very well, she will donate all the proceeds to New York public schools. She made good the promise recently by donating $50,000 to the New York Department of Education as confirmed by ‘Capital New York‘.
“It’s selling really, really well, which is good because I’m donating all my proceeds to New York City public schools,” she said at the time, as reported by Times.
However, it is not clear at this moment whether the money represents her entire earnings from this song or part of the first installment to be disbursed to the schools. Taylor Swift has consistently topped the DoSomething.org’s “Celebs Gone Good” list, recognizing the most philanthropic stars, for three years running. She also held an event last fall with New York City schoolkids to talk about the power of reading and writing.
Keep up the good work Swift!
