President Obama appeared before a joint press conference with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday, 28th April and condemned the violence that erupted in Baltimore following Freddie Gray’s funeral, according to ABC News.
Barrack Obama actually had some harsh words for the rioters, saying that there is no excuse for the youth to riot and loot following the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25 years old African American who died of spinal cord injury while in police custody.
“They’re destroying and undermining businesses and opportunities in their own communities that rob jobs and opportunity from people in that area,”
The President also took a swipe on the other side, the law enforcement, for their use of excessive force, calling for some soul searching on their strong-armed tactic in enforcing the laws.
“We as a country have to do some soul searching, This is not new. It’s been going on for decades.”
