A husband and wife have found themselves behind bars after their nanny accused them of enslaving her.
According to court documents, the 38-year-old victim, who wasn’t named, claimed that Chudy and Sandra Nsobundu forced her to work 20-hour day per day: cooking, cleaning and caring for the couple’s five children.
She also claims she was never allowed to sit down during the day and would be beaten for simple mistakes like putting the wrong socks on their children.
She went on to say that the couple faked documents to bring her to the United States from Nigeria, then stopped paying her once she arrived.
They original agreement, she said, was she would be paid $100 a week to serve as the family’s nanny.
If convicted, the couple faces 25 years in federal prison for forced labor charges and up to another 25 years for withholding documents.
The couple is expected to make their first court appearance Tuesday at 10 a.m.
