Are Nigerians too socially aloof that there is sometimes a lack of enthusiasm and applauds at award shows, which are put together to recognize the best in the industry, or is it just a lack of participation due to disinterestedness in the substance of artistic appreciation?
According to Nigerian Filmmaker, Mildred Okwo, Nigerian socialites are more interested in who is wearing what outfit than the substance of the event, as stated on her Twitter page. She also expressed her dismay at their lack of appreciation by not clapping their hands to honor the winners, which she compared to the recently concluded Oscars, where rounds after rounds of applause were generated, making the event more lively and the recipient of the award more appreciated.
“See the way people clap at the Oscars. All these socialites will collect AMVCA cards, refuse to clap but be eyeing winners up and down,” She tweeted.

You can bet a majority of red carpet interview people have no clue which films are nominated at AMVCA. Asking silly questions
