Michael Sam, the first openly gay man drafted into the NFL, told Oprah Winfrey in an exclusive Interview that there are a few other gay players in the NFL league who are not ready to come out openly, but thanked him for coming out prior to him being drafted in the seventh round by the St Louis Rams in 2014.
Here is the quote from Michael to Oprah:
“A very few reached out to me and pretty much just told me their gratitude and how thankful they were that I had the courage [to come out],” he told Winfrey in an interview, which will air on OWN, via Cindy Boren of The Washington Post. “They wished that they had the courage to come out.”
