Mike Perett lost his leg in 2006 after falling from a mountain in India, while volunteering for an orphanage. The incident left him with an amputated leg, but he decided to turn the negative experience into something more positive as he thought of ways to propose to his fiancee, Melita, according to a recent report from BuzzFeed!
“He was told he was lucky to be alive,” Melita told BuzzFeed Life. “The force taken to break the bone would have skewered him if his legs had not buckled.”
His girlfriend Melita had stood by him through the painful experience, and in 2011, when he decided to take the big step, he teamed up with London-based jeweller Ingle & Rhode to have pieces of his bone kept in the ring.
Melita loved it, and says the ring is so special to her.
“I guess why it’s so special to me,” Melita said to BuzzFeed, “is because I think it shows his bravely coming to terms with something like that so positively… which has to be a good attribute for marriage.”
Amazing story….
Here are some photos of the happy couple!
