It seems like the latest trend with celebrities these days is to heavily capitalize on their popularity in the widest commercialization possible. Former spice girl band member, Victoria Beckham started her own line of perfumes and so did Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and others. Some choose to go high-tech like Kim Kardarshian who has a mobile game in her name called Kim Kardarshan: Hollywood, and just recently, American singer “Katy Perry” will have her own mobile game version too. Perry is currently in discussion with GLU Mobile Inc., the same developer that created Kardashian’s Game to develop her own mobile game version that will be available on IOS and Android platform as reported by Times.
The 30-year-old singer and songwriter is definitely enjoying a great time with her career, considering that she was the most watched singer when she sang at halftime break during the recently concluded Super Bowl XLIX. The Super Bowl was broadcast live to over 118 million viewers, drawing the highest number of viewers in this grand sport event in America.
“Katy is arguably the most recognized musician in America following her Super Bowl XLIX Halftime performance this past Sunday,” said Glu’s CEO, Niccolo de Masi. “She is a cultural icon and we expect to translate key elements of her success into an innovative, highly entertaining mobile experience.”
The singer’s early career in the recording industry was quite unconventional as she was a gospel singer during her early teenage years. Her break into secular music came in 2008 where she delivered “I kissed a Girl” in 2008 and followed by “Fireworks” in 2010. 2013 was a prolific year for her as she produced 3 albums: “Roar”, “Dark Horse” and “This is how we do”. Perry currently has 10 million albums sold in the chart and 60 millions followers on Twitter.
