John Travolta has been cast for the role of Lawyer Robert Shapiro, the key man in the ex-football star, O.J. Simpson’s legal defense team, in the FX upcoming miniseries, “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson”. Thus, the “Saturday Night Fever” star returns to the small screen for a major TV role after more than 35 years. As the network announced on Wednesday, besides playing a starring role, the 60-year-old actor will also be one of the series’ producers.
Shapiro was the leader of the legal team that led Simpson’s high profile case during the the ex-football star’s 1995 murder trial, in which he was accused of killing ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. Travolta joins an all-star cast that includes Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. who stars as O.J. Simpson, David Schwimmer as Simpson’s friend and lawyer, Robert Kardashian and Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark.
