According to CBS News, Yanjin Li who was traveling on the Philadelphia public train went into labor on Christmas Day while passengers on the train watched as two transit police officers helped her deliver the baby, police said.
SEPTA Police Sergeant Daniel Caban and Officer Darrell James were informed of the imminent birth and immediately rushed to the train around 5.50p.m. just at the time the baby’s head was crowning through the expectant mother’s sweatpants.”I had already opened all my presents. I didn’t know I had another one waiting for me around 5:53 this afternoon,” Caban said.
“When she was on the train I guess the baby said, ‘I’m ready to come out now,’ ” witness Toney Harris-Saunders, who helped the mother relax on the subway
Pictures uploaded to social media showed the officers carrying the baby who was later carried out of the subway swaddked up. Both Mother and child were thereafter taken to a hospital for a medical check-up.
