A grand jury has declined to indict two additional officers involved in the Sam DuBose shooting case. Former University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing was indicted for murder and voluntary manslaughter Wednesday in the fatal July 19 shooting of the 43-year-old DuBose during a traffic stop.
The officer told 911 dispatchers that he was “almost run over” during the traffic stop, but he said in the incident report that he was “dragged” by the vehicle.
A second officer, Phillip Kidd, backed Tensing’s claim — although body camera video showed the officers’ account was misleading. Kidd and his trainee, David Lindenschmidt, were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The grand jury declined to indict either officer Friday, reported WLWT-TV.
Tensing pleaded not guilty Thursday and was released later that day on $1 million bond. He faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
