George Zimmerman the man who was acquitted of second degree murder of unarmed Trayvon Martin by a Florida jury in 2013 was recently arrested late Friday for aggravated assault and domestic violence with a weapon after he allegedly threw a wine bottle at his girlfriend, according to a report by NBC News.
The 31-year-old former neighborhood watchman reportedly appeared before a judge Saturday morning and the judge granted a $5,000 bond, ordered him to surrender his firearms and to have no contact with his girlfriend, the victim involved in this the case.
Zimmerman has reportedly been released from jail but was again ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or travel to Volusia County, where she currently lives. The judge was also reported to have asked Zimmerman to surrender any firearms he owns although there was no indication that he used one in this case. Zimmerman is expected back in court on February 17.
