Serena Williams beat Czech 13th seed Lucie Safarova at the French Open to claim her 20th Grand Slam title, according to theGuardian. The 33-year-old has become the third player ever to win 20 major singles titles.
On the eve of this final, Serena Williams was reportedly suffering so badly with flu that she considered pulling out. However, she pulled herself together and twenty-four hours later, she emerged with a 20th grand slam title thanks to a 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 victory over the Czech Lucie Safarova that, even by her standards, was remarkable.
“It’s been a dream for me,” she said.
Congratulations to Serena Williams!
