“In keeping with our tradition of recognizing excellence as part of our initiative of encouraging development and patriotism, the university is conferring honorary degrees on the following achievers: Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso and Mr. Godswill Obot Akpabio.”

Makinde also lamented on the challenge of the near collapse of the country’s educational sector over the last few years, adding the following:
“Inadequate medical care leading to dwindling quality of life and living ; weak economic power owing to rising inflationary trend and the brain drain syndrome have embolden us as an institution to reverse the trend and offer a fresh lease of hope to millions.”
