Emma Stone will play Rose Marie “Rosemary” Kennedy, the eldest sister of President John F. Kennedy, in a new movie titled Letters From Rosemary.
The spec which was a Black List script by Nick Yarborough will be produced by Steve Golin and Doug Wald of Anonymous Content along with Allard Cantor, Jarrod Murray and Richard Arlook.
Rose Marie (also known as “Rosemary”) Kennedy was the daughter of Joseph Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald who displayed signs of mental disability that the family kept hidden. At the age of 23, Rosemary was one of the first people to receive a prefrontal lobotomies, but the procedure was unsuccessful and it left her permanently incapacitated.
Stone, who is repped by WME, Anonymous Content and attorney PJ Shapiro, was most recently seen in Woody Allen’s Irrational Man, and has Damien Chazelle’s La La Land with Ryan Gosling coming up. She’s also to play Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes.
