Zac Efron is in negotiations to star opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a “Baywatch” movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter — and the The Rock has apparently made it official.
On Monday, Johnson tweeted:
BIG NEWS: Welcoming my dude @ZacEfron to #BAYWATCH. Our movie will be big, fun and RATED R.. Like me when I drink. https://t.co/8DPMJSEG9K

According to THR, the big-screen reboot of the ’90s show will follow a “by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron).” Reportedly, their characters must join together against an oil tycoon that threatens to destroy their beach. “Baywatch” is set to go into production early next year and be released in 2017, says THR.
Oh and it’s going to be “big, fun and RATED R” — at least if we can take Johnson’s word for it.
