Josh Paler Lin has one of the most popular channel on YouTube with over 700,000 subscribers and often conducts social experiments, with his most recent one being to confirm the notion that homeless people spend every last penny they have on alcohol. So, quite simply Lin gave $100 to a homeless man and kept following him from a distance while filming the man to confirm what he would do with the money. What the experimenter witnessed after his donation was thereafter amazing.
Although Thomas, the homeless man he gave the money to, immediately headed towards a nearby liquor store, what happened next was really unexpected. Thomas came out of the store holding a large bag, but instead of alcohol he had bought food that he afterwards shared with other homeless people. Lin approached to meet the man and after “rewarding” him with another $100 he found out that Thomas had quit his job to take care of his sick parents, but lost his family home after they died. Since then he has been living on the street for almost 4 months.
Lin was so moved and surprised by this heartwarming action that he decided to set up a donation page and help Thomas get back on his feet. So far, the donation money is at $56,000! The inspiring video has gathered more than 11 million views already and Josh Paler Lin insists that the video was not staged. “People think I changed his life,” he said on the “Today Show“. “For me, it’s completely the opposite – I feel that he changed my life.”
