One of Bollywood’s biggest star, Salman Khan, 49 was found guilty of culpable homicide and has been sentenced to jail for 5 years relating to a hit and run drunk driving incident in 2002 that killed a homeless man and injured 4 others, BBC reports.
The actor has argued in defense that hiss driver was behind the wheel but the trial judge, DW Deshpande said Khanr was actually driving the car and he was drunk during the fatal incident 13 years ago.
“You were driving the car; you were under the influence of alcohol,” he told the actor as soon as the court proceedings began.
During the fatal incident in Mumbai 13 years ago, the car belonging to Salman Khan had veered and run over a group of homeless men, killing 1 and injuring 4 of them. The car then fled the scene.
The Bollywood actor is one of the highest grossed entertainer within that industry and had starred in a record of over 80 Hindi movies in his acting career.
