President Barrack Obama’s Certificate of Commendation to Prof. Jega over Recent Election Conduct Criticized by Chief Edwin Clark!
On behalf of US President Barrack Obama, the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle presented a Certificate of Commendation to INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, for the free and fair way the Presidential and National Assembly elections were held on March 28th, which they said was the most credible and the best election ever held in Nigeria.
However, the Federal Commissioner for Information and South South leader, Chief Edwin Clark has condemned the award, saying it was too hasty to make such a commendation since the Governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections haven’t even held and he literally said the United States should leave Nigeria alone.
“I was surprised that Barack Obama gave Professor Attahiru Jega an award when the elections are still on . Obama should be tactful in handling the affairs of Africa. US should leave us alone, Nigeria is an Independent country. They tried it Egypt, they should not try anything in Nigeria” He told journalists in Abuja yesterday.
