A romantic drama “Southside With You” centered around Barack Obama and former Michelle Robinson’s first date is being immortalized into a Hollywood Movie. The movie is slated to begin filming in Chicago in July 2015 and will star Actress Tika Sumpter, who previously featured in the James Brown biopic “Get on Up”, who will play the role of Michelle Obama while the role of Barack has not yet been cast. Possible stars speculated to cast as Obama in the movie are Drake, Michael B Jordan or Jay Pharaoh, Obama’s impersonator on “Saturday Night Live“, according to the Guardian.
A much anticipated film in the making, the flick will be a different kind of biopic as it will center around the young couple’s love story including the day Barack first convinced Michelle to go on the couple’s first date, now-turned-into-a-story, how he treated her to the finest ice cream Baskin-Robbins had to offer, how Michelle rebuffed initial advances by Obama when they both worked at the prestigious Sidley & Austin Law Firm in Chicago when she was a 25-year-old attorney and Obama was a 27-year-old summer associate and most importantly, their first kiss. In a 2007 Oprah’s O-Magazine featuring Barrack Obama, he said “I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate. To commemorate the location where history began with the Obama’s, a plaque has now been placed at the site where the young couple had their first kiss 25 years ago in SouthSide Chicago. What a love story!!!
On meeting the man who would become her husband, Michelle Obama previously narrated the story in Author David Mendell’s 2007 political biography book “Obama: From Promise to Power”, “So we had lunch, and he had this bad sport jacket and a cigarette dangling from his mouth, and I thought: ‘Oh, here you go. Here’s this good-looking, smooth-talking guy. I’ve been down this road before.'”
This is truly a must-watch, and we all can’t wait for this movie to hit the big screens.
