Air Safety has been of question lately with the recent air crashes experienced by Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia in 2014. Although, the roots cause of air disasters are not always safety-related, but it still behooves air travelers to select airlines with known standards for high levels of safety when making reservations for air travel.
According to CNN, aviation website “AirlineRatings.com” just released its annual list of the world’s 10 safest airlines and named Australian airline Qantas as the world’s safest airline. “Qantas continues to lead the industry with safety innovations and its fleet is now the youngest — 7.9 years — it has been since the airline was privatized in 1995,” Geoffrey Thomas, an editor of AirlineRatings.com told CNN. It was also reported that this airline has not had a fatal crash in over 60 years.
Furthermore, CNN reported that AirlineRatings.com’s rating system takes into account various audits from aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations, results of government audits, fatality records of the airlines, operational histories, incident records and operational excellence in putting together this ranking.
Other airlines making the top 10 list include:
- Lufthansa
- British Airways
- Air New Zealand
- Cathay Pacific Airways
- Emirates
- Etihad Airways
- EVA Air
- Finnair and
- Singapore Airlines
