The herald of the New Year 2015 in Lagos was truly a memorable event where there was much fanfare and pageantry in the state capital. The event this time around was more spectacular with a wider display of fireworks interspersed with more creative pyrotechnics manifestation as a visual art. The availability of more artistic pyro-visual flares mesmerizing the audience reportedly to be over 200,000 in number made this New Year celebration a more colorful and innovative one.
This year’s event themed ‘A Night Like Never Before‘ truly lived up to its motto because the gala’s content was richer with the infusion of more creative fireworks, wider array of performing artists and a larger crowd of spectators. The Governor of Lagos State ‘Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola’ was there to grace the event with other prominent names including Mallam Aliko Dangote and Mr. Femi Otedola, just to mention a few.
Among the notable performing artists there to add more spice to the celebration are Patoranking, Olamide, D’Banj, Omawunmi, and the famed 2 Face. Revellers at the site were carousing throughout the countdown until wee hours of the morning. After all, it was once in a year celebration and most would not want to wait for another year to enjoy themselves to the fullest. It is a delayed gratification, a somewhat unpopular phrase for the young.
Well, most of the Lagosians at the dawn of the new year were the young Nigerians that have been seething and waiting for the final countdown at the stroke of the clock. The combustion of fireworks is the watershed of the event as most people descended here just to watch the pyrotechnics.
